What’s She Doing Wednesday: It IS Wednesday, Right?

IMG_8962OK so the title doesn’t even have anything to really do with Jia, but it has to everything to do with what we’re going through at the moment. We have some huge huge news but it’s coming Friday at earliest an next Tuesday at latest.

Anyway what Jia’s been up to:

  • She can count “one…two…three” – found this out when my aunt and grandmother came over and were watching her while I got some stuff done around the house! She was placing crayons into her snack cup and counted each as they went in.
  • Says “book” as she went up to her room and grabbed a book and brought it downstairs.
  • Said “Bess (Bless) You.” after I sneezed at the breakfast table one morning!
  • Back to sleeping 11-12 hours a night without crying in the middle of it.
  • VERY opinionated on which books she wants to read and when. She very deliberately pushes away a certain book if that’s not the one she wants you to read. And lets you hear it if you try to read that to her anyway, haha…
  • Keepin those chompers lookin awesome – for a while she was refusing letting me brush her teeth, so I would tell Jeff he needed to brush hers in the morning at least. (she lets him) So Jeff has created this very positive tooth-brushing experience for her somehow (being all fun and dad-like), and now she’ll sometimes say “ahhhh” and open her mouth to brush. I can actually get all of her 16 teeth and she doesn’t mind it. Thank you, Hello Kitty toothpaste.
  • She hated headbands. Anything on her head, even those little elastics that I use to put her “Pebbles” firecracker ponytail on top of her head, she would prefer to rip out (especially if it has a bow on it, that sort of bugs her out sometimes). So I could never get her to keep a headband on her head. Tonight, we were about to get her bath ready and she starts pulling out all her headbands from the drawer under her crib and tries to put them on her head (with the effectiveness of how she tries to put on her own socks – not well). So I put them on her head and she laughs. Then she takes another headband and tries to put it on my head. So we took a selfie together. 11023295_10105253847504418_6160836968899309666_o

For me:

  • We’ve got our daycare situation figured out for the Fall. She starts September 1st at her new place. Details later… =)
  • We have an extensive To-Do list, so much that we have taped each task up on the wall of our kitchen so we can see our new tasks every day as we move them from the “To Do” —> “In Progress” —> “This Week” —> “Today” —> “Completed”. This was Jeff’s brilliant idea and I’m so glad he did this, because for someone who is visual, I felt SO MUCH relief after seeing these tasks on the wall. I know that these last two points are very vague but you’ll see why later.
  • I’m really sorry that I haven’t posted a research post. I feel the pressure to post one, but I’m just not able to find time lately. I’m not really sure when I’ll be able to, I think the next post will just have to be written piece by piece over the next couple of weeks. For the first week I wasn’t able to find the research articles I wanted to use but then my nurse practitioner friend hooked me up with access to a lot of evidence-based research articles that have to do with the topic of “to circumcise or not circumcise.” A lot has been going on lately that I’ve barely had time to give it much thought. 🙁 Bad mom blogger!
